Violent Jealousy by Lienwyn Violent Jealousy by Lienwyn
This is my part of an Art Trade with *Verdokai where I was asked to draw a picture where Jason (the guy up front, her character) was beaten by... someone.
I chose Miguel (the guy that's trying to kick him, also delongs to *Verdokai), while Ian is trying to hold him back (my character)

The situation is very difficult to explain without making it sound completely fucked up... mainly because it is.
You see, Ian is an asexual sadomasochist - meaning that he gets off on hurting people and getting hurt - and Miguel is his 'boyfriend'... meaning that they hit each other every now and then for kicks :XD:

Normally, it's easy to determine if your partner is being unfaithful - like finding them in bed with someone else - but what happens when you find Ian beating someone else up, while he seems to enjoy it?
I'm not quite sure myself, but Miguel got pissed anyway - and VERY jealous. His way of handling it?
Kicking the shit out of the person that Ian was manhandling of course x'D

So poor Jason suddenly found himself being beaten by another person, even if the first one stopped out of pure shock. Then, as seen, Ian tries to stop Miguel, but not from some noble reason like protecting Jason - he was the one who begun beating him up after all - but from something as simple as him getting even more... excited from seeing Miguel beating Jason. So he's basically trying to get Miguel off to somewhere more private to have some... personal fun.
It's in times like these that I realise that my characters are totally fucked up, and Ian is one of the worst x'D

Aaaaanyway. I do feel sorry for Jason, but in the same time I don't, since getting beaten is therapy for him - meaning that he does mind, but since it keeps him sane he sort of goes with it.
I think he prefers Ian beating him though... and that's why he's not pleased at the moment :XD:
Yes, *Verdokai also has some majorly fucked up characters :P
This does not mean that he's a masochist though, he just has one of the worst ways of dealing with his issues ever.

And Miguel is working at a café, thus the apron.

This picture wasn't really supposed to turn out like this...
I mean, I had an idea, and then, before I knew it, it got totally blown out of proportion >_> Meaning the poses, the angle, the perspective, the background and all that shit that makes this a bit more serious than demanded and intended. *Verdokai didn't ask for something this huge - it was my choice.
I guess I just felt like doing something... big. Even if I didn't have to. It's A4 after all ^^;
And I'm trying my best to make the colouring better and better too...

It was good practice after all, and even if it's not perfect, I learned quite a lot from this.

So enjoy ^_^
(and if anyone wants me to put mature content on me, let me know >_> )

:wow: Seriously... that's... :XD: I guess I feel more relaxed around my darkelfs, especially one called Algeris, after I have read this, as I see I am not only one who has so seriously fucked up characters :XD:
As for the picture, the angle is very interesting and I love the smiley :D
But it is a bit disturbing, yes, for me because of the feeling I can't stop it and it will go on forever... blah *shiver*
All in all, strong picture indeed...

Well, these aren't the only ones, so if you didn't realise THAT until now, you're a bit behind ;)

It's a bit... disturbing, yes, but Ian did manage to draw Miguel away from there, so Jason was spared from some of the beating at least ^^;

I want to eat it... but I guess I can't -_-' Feh. Wanna.

I was stunned the first time I saw this ^^ It's reaaaally cool! The poses and angles and colours... it's all so cool! And I'm repeating myself but that's nothing new :XD:
And I really want to eat Miguel's tshirt :paranoid:

Awsome ^^

No, you can't :XD: You would have to go to *Verdokai to do that because it's hanging on her wall or something :P

I really tried with this, so thank you :)
It was difficult and I was really grumpy during many parts of it, but ah well...
You can't eat that either :XD:

This picture seriously scares me. I'm cringing in my seat right now. In short, you did too great a job for me to linger on it too long :) It's just too vivid, too believable.
Might be the first time me running away from a piece of art is actually a compliment :P

I was actually a bit worried there for a while, because it is very intense... I mean, I've drawn fights and such before, but here Jason really looks defenceless ^^;

And yes, probably :XD:

There's a new question I just realized: Am I so scared because it's a beating of defenseless person, or because it looks so real, as if it could happen just around the corner?
Would it affect me so much if the setting of the picture was medieval, or sci-fi?
I honestly don't know the answer. I only know I'm not cringing because of violence itself. It's either because Jason doesn't fight back or because of the setting.
Apart from the way you drew the picture of course, with perfect perspective and poses. That would be the greatest part of the intensity.

It's hard to know, really... I think I react because Jason isn't fighting back, but also partly because the setting is so common. It IS easier to accept when it's in medieval setting for me... because, as you say, it's not just around the corner then...

Cool colours. I like the perspective too. It really works. Oh and all those little details, like the coke can and stuff are awesome too. They really bring the picture together.

Though the guy on the ground (Jason :confused:) looks like he has been into some red ink. The blood might work a bit better if it was a little darker....if it appeared to be a little thicker in anycase ^^; (Oh and flaps of skin would be great too, but that would probably need boots :shrug: )

And finally *hands you a slip of paper* here's the number of a guy I know. You might want to talk to him about your 'issues' and stop molesting your characters :giggle:

I worked pretty hard on all of it... especially the perspective since it's so new to me ^^;

I would really like to make it seem like real blood, yes, but I still haven't found a good way to do it -___- So this is how I do it until I find it ^^;
I guess I'll just have to rely on people's imagination until then :P

Heh... I have already talked to someone about my isses, and she barely bothered about my past of my roleplaying life :P

hmmm...well use the baseball bat I sent you (see comments elsewhere) to smack the person you talked to and kill two birds with one stone. First you get some real genuine blood for your picture. Second you get to vent some of that frustration that your poor characters suffer as a result of.

And do you really want to leave you pictures to my imagination? This doesn't even border on the perverse by comparison.

You know, that would be very unnecessary since I liked her :XD:
And I've seen enough slaughter and stuff to know how blood looks like anyway, it's just difficult to DRAW it :XD:

Very true of course :XD:
I forgot about people like you :P

I suppose. Besides real blood doesn't look like blood when you smear it on paper. It just ends up drying all icky and flacky and I suspect it will stick after a time :fear:

Yes, it's not very practical...
It would become too dark as well, since blood does that when it dries :(

What caught my attention first was the fuzziness of the sky though >_> Even though they're discrete they're still light effects and you pulled those of especially nicely.
The perspective kicks ass, pardon the pun :P

Amazing. You really did portray that little event quite well. Poor boy. :<
Normally, it's easy to determine if your partner is being unfaithful - like finding them in bed with someone else - but what happens when you find Ian beating someone else up, while he seems to enjoy it?

That. That was a great way of explaining it in a nutshell almost. XD

How long does it take you to do something like this?

Heh... yeah, I really like the situation for some reason, even if it's totally fucked up :XD:
Ian is one of those characters that I find very interesting :D

Urr.. this one took around... ten-thirteen hours I think. But that's because I wasn't very effective during any of those hours :XD:
Normally it can take less... or more, it really depends on the motif.

You're spoiling me. And I sure do hope the rest of dA understands that it's -you- spoling -me- and not -me- being a sponger and a parasitic hanger-on :P

And I wouldn't be worried about it if the picture wasn't this good, you know. Jason, with the exception of his wrists, looks like a Jason I would draw myself (but without being as lousy as if I had drawn him XP) and the perspective gives Miguel's foot some SERIOUSLY great vengeance and FURIOUS anger.

I should've asked for something simpler, so you wouldn't have outdone yourself again and I wouldn't have a lousy conscience now :P
