Fallen Angel Relief by Lienwyn Fallen Angel Relief by Lienwyn
This is what happens when I finish all of my assignments before the rest of my class and get to sculpt something of my own.

I don't quite remember why I decided to do this except for the fact that it seemed like a good idea at the time :XD:
It's a relief made with some basic clay anyway and it took... many hours.

It's mildly depressing that I manage better at sculpting fabric than drawing it :/
And the wings might not be entirely logical, no, but it was difficult enough as it was :XD:

I hope that you will like it ^_^

I put a lot of effort into this :D

Thanks to *Sjazna for taking the photos!

This is laying in my DevWatch for too long already. I remember when I saw it for the first time that it was as if the angel crash-landed straight into my heart. Simply love at first sight. I love the face, the hair, the arm, the fabric, the pose... And even though I know for a fact that you are talented, this was unexpected. One of those "and-she-had-to-trump-herself-again-hadn't-she" moments of amazement. I should have known better than to be surprised. :D
I have a thing for fallen angels and this is so emotionally charged depiction, I can't even begin to say what it does to me.
So, there, I simply love it to pieces
And sculpting really suits you :aww:

This was pretty unexpected to me too, seriously :XD:
Sure, I knew that I could do some pretty awesome things but I never thought that this would look this good... partly because I didn't have a very clear idea of what I wanted when I started besides a fallen angel, so the pose and all came little by little, and partly because, well, I'm still pretty new to sculpturing :XD:
But I'm still SUPER PROUD over this one. I don't think that I'll ever stop being so, as a matter of fact. This is truly a favourite amongst my own works - of all time.

So I'm really glad that you like it too and that it means something to you too
And, as said: I have copies in case you want one for yourself ;)

I really like his face for some reason.

The whole scene seems to me to be oscillating between pain and comfort, as if he was on the verge of pushing himself up, yet allowed himself a moment more of respite on the soil, cradled by the rocks which might turn into another painful challenge soon. Just a moment more... and who knows, perhaps an angel, even a fallen angel, can hear the slow, steady heartbeat of the Earth he landed on...

In short, yet another piece full of emotion, stirring my imagination. ;)

I do too... I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to portray it the way I wanted but I am pretty pleased with this ^^

My initial thought was that he was supposed to be pushing himself upwards but the further I got the more I realised that it worked both ways... (pushing up or just lying there after having landed, I mean) and that neither of them seemed wrong so I let it be :XD:

Thank you ^_^
This one is pretty emotional to me too since it's one of the best sculptures I've done, and I managed to get it so close to my goal...
But, sadly enough, I might have ruined the finished product so if I'm unlucky this will be the only documentation of it :(

:aww:

I think it was a great choice. There's something touching in that scene, something deeply emotional I can't really describe, and I think it's partially thanks to the ambiguity.

Aww. I hope it turned / will turn out okay in the end. Do you know the result already?
(I'm glad you made those pictures either way. I like the unfinished product as it is. :) )

I really like it this way too... I can hopefully continue to work with these kind of sculptures since I'm pretty fascinated by the depths you can find in simple bodylanguage... It's so different from drawings.

It worked in the end :)
I managed to fix the original and make several copies, as a matter of fact :XD: I don't know what I'm going to do with them all but... urr... perhaps sell them? If anyone would want them, that is x'D

I love it. It's just gorgeous, the way the fabric folds over his body and the ground, just amazing. The wings look great as well, but I think my favourite part is his hand on the ground. It's simply so well sculpted! And the hair covering his face, giving a bit of mysterious air about him.

Before I saw the final piece the draft gave me a bunch of inspiration for a scene in an RP adventure I'm currently hosting. :XD: Isn't it amazing what great art can achieve?

I am pretty darn amazed by the fabric too. I had no idea that I could make it that well :XD:
I'm not entirely pleased with the hand to tell the truth but it was difficult to change after a while because it would have fallen off if I tried too hard :XD:

That's nice ;)

What can I say, you have talent for creating things, be it with clay, pencils or ginger bread dough :XD:
Really? I think it looks great, but that's comming from someone who can't draw hands without references :)

The scene hasn't been played yet and will most likely not occur within the nearest future, but I have written it. So when we finally get to the scene I will have this relief in mind :)

Apparently I do. Now we just have to hope that I can find some use for it... I mean, I know that there are many ways to use it but I have to find them :XD:
I think it's a bit too flat but I'm a perfectionist so... it's good enough, really :XD:
